Today, Baby Shepherd is seven months old. Seven! We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground, so I dressed him appropriately in his “Mr. Ice Guy” fleecy outfit.
Just this week he’s started sitting up without help! He still prefers to roll around and explore the various food bits, pine needles, and dust bunnies that are inevitably scattered across the floor, but he’s usually pretty happy sitting up if he has several toys within reach.
A couple of weeks ago, he had his first bite of real food — avocado! Since then we’ve also tried banana, pumpkin, and sweet potato, and he’s thoroughly enjoyed them all. I usually feed him with my fingers because I can’t keep his chubby little hands off of the shiny silver spoon.
We’re all completely enamored with this little guy — even Boulder is starting to show some affection, rubbing his younger brother’s head and cooing “Baby Shep” over and over. And then he usually growls at him with his “lion” face. But we’re making progress. Baby steps.
I just can’t get enough of those kisses!
