an afternoon at the carnival

A few weekends ago we packed up the kids and headed to Eagle Lake’s 2nd annual carnival at Glen Eyrie.  Eric has memories of participating in Eagle Lake Camps as a kid.  (Ask him about it sometime if you want a good laugh!)  It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.

We ran into some church friends and our kiddos played while we talked and watched a helicopter land right on the carnival grounds!  The event was in the beautiful foothills so the scenery itself was enough to make my day.  (And the fact that it was free didn’t hurt.) ;)

Eric and Calla waited in line for almost an hour so she could ride this thingamajig…

You’ll have to ask Calla if it was worth the wait! :)

We stopped by the face painting booth on our way out.  Calla asked for a butterfly on her hand, and Hudson wanted a dinosaur.  We requested a lion face for Boulder and this is what he got…

I’m not sure about the lion part, but it was still pretty cute!  Especially with his custom-made rabbit pelt cape…

It was a worthwhile way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  I’m thinking we’ll be repeat visitors for next year’s carnival!  (And we’ll be sure to get in the free cotton candy line early — before it’s all gone!)
